BELAIR NATIONAL PARK EXCURSION – Tuesday 27th November

BELAIR NATIONAL PARK EXCURSION – Tuesday 27th November

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This a short note on what is needed for Tuesday’s excursion to Belair National Park on the 27th November.

Students will need to wear their school sunhat and to wear sunscreen as we will be outside most of the school day. The forecast is for a maximum of 21 degrees with possible showers. Please refer to the Weather zone 48 hour forecast for Belair closer to the day. We will let students know on Monday if a raincoat or umbrella might be needed. Children are to bring their own water, recess, fruit and lunch. Students are to wear their school uniform. They can bring a smaller backpack instead of their school bag to carry their gear on the day or share a school back pack between two or more friends and take it in turns to carry. Shoes with a good tread should be worn as the track might be slippery or have loose stones.

Planned Itinerary

  • Students will need to arrive at school by 8:45am and come directly to the classroom to be checked on the roll. At 8:50am (first bell) we will head outside to line up outside the school. The bus will depart the school at 9:00am. The bus is expected to arrive at the park around 9:25am.
  • We will first be walking down to Playford Lake then onto Echo Tunnel. Once we are at Echo Tunnel we will check to see if it is safe to pass through and back. If so, groups will pass through this.
  • From Echo Tunnel we will go to the Belair Nursery and in staggered groups have a 5-10 minute walk around inside. After seeing the nursery we will walk around Old Government House on the outside then go down to the Adventure playground where we can have our lunch, explore the surroundings and play on the equipment.
  • Students will have the opportunity in pairs or small groups to do a very easy orienteering course from the Adventure Playground. If we have enough time after lunch, we will go for a further walk into the park.
  • The bus will pick us up from the Adventure Playground and we will depart at 2:10 pm. We will arrive back at the school at 2:30 pm.
  • Please make payment by this Friday. Thank you to the volunteering parents who have returned their slips and have current DCSI and RAN training we have sent confirmation to those involved. We look forward to having you along for the day.

Kind regards,

Des Norman, Krista Gill, Katina Athanasos
